Immune deficiency explains why preterm babies are vulnerable to infections

New research led by Dr. Pascal Lavoie shows that preterm babies are low in a blood protein called p40 that helps fight bacterial and viral infections, and that babies who developed sepsis had the lowest levels of p40.
