    Summary

My role as new faculty at UBC is to enhance the knowledge base within the context of our newly launched Graduate Program in Pediatric Dentistry.

    1. A pilot study to determine if severe dental caries in young children can be effectively stabilized with non-invasive interventions to delay invasive, riskier treatment at a young age yet improve interim oral-health-related quality-of-life measures (in progress).

    2. A pilot study to determine if BC's children with special health care needs have unmet dental needs and experience barriers in access to dental services (in progress).

    3. Would pre-treatment play therapy improve pre-schooler acceptance and behaviour during dental treatment? (under development)

    4. Is there a systematic approach that can be developed, based on key presenting conditions, to accurately predict the amount of operating room time alottment to book for a pediatric dental rehabilitation case? (under development)
