Research

Developmental Profiles of Children Assessed for Autism Spectrum Disorder
Using population level data, we aim to improve our understanding of the long-term developmental profiles of children assessed for autism spectrum disorder. While many studies focus on symptom changes over time, we aim to focus on school and community functioning and participation, and child and youth well-being and belonging. Our study will look at both children diagnosed with autism and those who have not been, who may also have differences and functional impairments in social communication.

Implementation of ECHO Autism
In a cross-Canada collaboration across 5 Canadian sites, we will examine the implementation of Extension for Community Health Care Outcomes for Autism (ECHO Autism) programs. The ECHO model is an evidence-based intervention that uses a virtual knowledge sharing network to improve care provided by healthcare providers. We are working with patients, families, and clinicians in BC to build an ECHO Autism BC program that is specific to the needs of our province. We are collaborating with our national partners to measure the impact of ECHO Autism programs to improve clinical practice and care for children with autism.
