As a pediatric anesthesiologist specializing in regional blocks and pain management, research is needed to improve post-surgical outcomes and rapid return to function. Some surgeries are quite invasive and can have lengthy rehabilitation. Proper pain management is essential in aiding recovery and getting patients back to their normal lives.

Chronic Pain in Patients
Chronic pain can be difficult to live with and treat. I am currently looking at projects aimed at better understanding the patients who come to the chronic pain service, to assess if the therapies used in clinic are effective long term when the patients return home.
I am also interested in studying how the use of marijuana impacts the effectiveness of pain management therapies and anesthetics.
