Dr. Avdimiretz is a certified Pediatric Respirologist with clinical and research expertise in advanced lung diseases in childhood, lung transplantation, aerodigestive conditions, bronchoscopy, and interstitial lung diseases. He previously worked at Stanford University, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, as Medical Director of the Pediatric Lung Transplant Program. He is a devoted medical educator and coach for trainees, and has an interest in studying health disparities and inequities.
His research is focused on improving outcomes for children with advanced and rare lung diseases. This includes studying practices in the field of pediatric lung transplant around the world, examining shifts over time in childhood lung diseases, and investigating how to optimize care for children with these diseases. As well, Dr. Avdimiretz authored a book chapter on allergy in heart transplantation and is involved in studying the effectiveness of new types of therapies for children with cystic fibrosis.

Disparities in Children with Advanced Lung Diseases from Socioeconomically Disadvantaged Communities
This project aims at studying the outcomes for children with severe lung disease, and how community level factors and socioeconomic indicators play a role. The Changing Landscape of Pediatric Lung Transplantation
This project investigates how the indications for lung transplant in children have shifted in recent years, and how this affects consensus guidelines and current practices worldwide in caring for these children both before and after transplant.International Antifungal Consortium
This consortium aims at studying practices around the world in preventing and treating fungal infections in children who have undergone lung transplant.
