A new BC Children’s Hospital and University of British Columbia study – the first to investigate choline nutrition in North American toddlers – shows that over 70 per cent of one-year-olds and over 50 per cent of two-year-olds are not meeting the recommended adequate intake for this essential nutrient.

State-of-the-art scans show a connection between exposure to anti-depressant before birth and changes in newborn’s brain activity

Dr. Tim Oberlander and his colleagues have used state-of-the-art MRI scans to study the effects of SSRI anti-depressants on the developing brain. Their work could eventually provide valuable information about the long-term consequences of taking these drugs during pregnancy and contribute to new approaches for managing depression that give both mothers and babies the best possible chance for a long-term health.
