I have a particular interest in health services research, particularly care integration, continuity of care from the patients’ point of view and quality of care. My research aims to improve the patient’s experience of the care received over time as being coherent and linked. In my current role as a researcher, I am supporting Tiers of Service self-assessments and analyses to improve operational and system planning of pediatric services across British Columbia, to ensure that all healthcare facilities work together as a network.

Implementation of Tiers of Service to improve operational and system planning
In order to facilitate operational and system planning for pediatric health service in British Columbia, we developed and are implementing the Tiers of Service framework. Pediatric services offered across the province are assessed and categorized into six tiers with varying levels of complexity; from Tier 1 offering a wide breadth of services that are accessible in most communities, to Tier 6 offering in-depth, sub-specialized pediatric-focused provincial services. Each one of these tiers is important and has unique roles in serving the needs of children and youth across British Columbia.Children’s health care quality measures
This project aims to apply a systematic approach to identify and define valid, relevant and feasible child health system quality measures, for the province of British Columbia. These measures support health system evaluation and quality improvement within three priority areas: mental health, diabetes, children with complexity, and patient safety. The study also provides understanding of barriers and facilitators to province wide implementation of quality measures.Honours & AwardsPremi extraordinari award from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona that recognizes excellence in a doctoral thesis
