Childhood Diseases includes Groups that are focused on studying childhood diseases and disorders. There is a specific focus on understanding mechanisms of health versus disease, as well as identifying and testing new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.

PITCH (Progress In the Theme of Childhood Diseases) is the local seminar series for clinical and basic researchers from across the Childhood Diseases Theme.

2016/17 Platform Technology Awards

This year the Childhood Disease Theme invited letters of intent for proposals for platform technologies and/or infrastructure to improve/expand research capacity on the Oak street campus. Two projects were awarded funding:

BC Children’s Hospital Tissue and Disease Modelling Core (TDMC)
 - Leader: Dr. Francis Lynn, BC Children’s Hospital Canucks for Kids Fund Childhood Diabetes Laboratories, UBC Department of Surgery.

Childhood Diseases BioBank Specimen Collection Program
 - Leader: Dr. Suzanne Vercauteren, UBC Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
