My clinical work is all centred around the nutritional care of children with medical illness, and my research interests come directly out of my clinical work. Nutritional assessment to understand the needs of medically complicated children, and nutrition support to try to meet those needs drive all the research questions that I explore.

No current active research, as I arrived in Vancouver in September 2012 with a primarily clinical mandate.Have just been accepted as a participant site for the Industry Sponsored trial "A 24-Week Double-blind Safety, Efficacy, and Pharmacodynamic Study Investigating Two Doses of Teduglutide in Pediatric Subjects through 17 Years of Age with Short Bowel syndrome who are Dependent on Parental Support," to begin in 2016.Research Group MembersCheryl Lockman
Pneumonia and malaria: Innovations tackle leading threats to children under five
Globally, pneumonia and malaria are among the leading causes of death for children under five, due in part to health-care resource gaps in low- and middle-income countries. New BCCHR investigator and pediatric infectious diseases expert Dr. Michael T. Hawkes is developing diagnostic and treatment tools to address these shortages.
