Overview

Dr. Bayrampour’s research interests include perinatal mental health and pregnancy and birth outcomes. She is interested in facilitating early detection and management of mental health issues during the perinatal period to improve pregnancy and child outcomes.

Poor mental health is common during pregnancy and is strongly associated with several adverse maternal and child outcomes with long term consequences such as postpartum depression, preterm birth, and developmental problems in offspring. Identification of pregnant women who have poor mental health or are at risk for developing these conditions is important, particularly as there is evidence that non-pharmacologic options are effective in their management during the antenatal period. Dr. Bayrampour's research has been focused on identifications of risk factors of transient and chronic maternal mental health as well as its trajectories over the perinatal period. She is also interested in conceptualization and measurement of maternal screening and addressing poor maternal mental health. Pregnancy outcomes and labour interventions are other areas of her research interests.

Research

Pregnancy-Specific Anxiety Tool
Through a 3-phase research project, we developed and validated a patient-reported outcomes measure, Pregnancy-specific anxiety tool (PSAT). As part of this project, we also collected detail information about birth and newborn health (e.g., gestational age, birth weight, type of birth) and child early developmental outcomes.

Detection of Perinatal Mental Health Issues Using Artificial Intelligence
Through a series of studies, we are exploring the use of artificial intelligence-based tools for detection of perinatal mental health issues.
