A healthy diet complete with plenty of fruits and vegetables is an important contributor to reaching and maintaining a healthy body weight. It is also protective against many chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and cancer.
I am involved in perioperative research that aims to improve evidence-based medicine in pediatric anesthesia. My previous work includes writing Association of Paediatric Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland consensus statement on one-hour clear fasting time for children undergoing elective surgery. This has been adopted internationally. I am a peer reviewer of the British Journal of Anaesthesia. I have also been the principal investigator on projects in medical education and clinical anesthesia.
