Prediction Machines: The AI Revolution in Personalized Medicine + Generative AI Research in Health Care — Opportunities and Risks

Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing the way we predict outcomes in medicine, moving us closer to the promise of personalized care. In this session, we’ll explore how AI systems like AlphaFold, which predicts protein structures, and ChatGPT, which excels at predicting text, use cutting-edge technologies that are now being applied to disease prediction. You’ll learn how these powerful tools work under the hood and how the same predictive techniques are being used to forecast patient outcomes. Then, in a live demo, we’ll work together to build our very own neural network with ChatGPT to predict disease outcomes using simulated patient data. This hands-on session will give you a glimpse into the exciting future of AI-powered personalized medicine. In this talk we will review the AI research lifecycle from model development to implementation in care. We will also discuss a few specific opportunities for AI research and development in health care using generative AI and the potential risks that should be considered in order to realize these opportunities.
