The POPi team is committed to providing unique opportunities to the highest caliber individuals. Our core personnel and trainees are exposed to the full spectrum of expertise in the field: drug safety, drug effectiveness, drug policy, (see our Research Capabilities section for a fulsome list). Furthermore, and perhaps most rewarding, is the ability to see the impact of our research in clinical practice.

Team Culture:

Our team culture is the foundation for our success in the research arena. We have productive collaborations in regional, national and international pharmaceutical outcomes research. We believe that empowering our team members is the centrepiece of a team culture that fosters creativity, continuous quality improvement, and innovation. We encourage team members to participate on many levels, which creates a high level of autonomy for trainees. We know that a research environment with high morale and job satisfaction is more likely to produce innovative, high-quality results in a timely manner.

Prospective Students and Trainees:

Scientists who join the POPi team become connected to a leading academic center, the University of British Columbia, one of North America's top research universities. In this setting, trainees are well-positioned to make significant basic, translational, and clinical research discoveries. We encourage our trainees to disseminate their research results to different audiences, including other researchers, organizations, healthcare professionals, and the general public. Other regional, national, and international conferences as well as periodic “work-in-progress” meetings will provide trainees an opportunity to present their work and their latest research developments.

We accept scientists for training at the M.Sc., Ph.D., and Post-Doctoral levels. We also welcome B.Sc. applicants to our Summer Student Research Program and the Work/Study Program, on an ongoing basis.

Currently, POPi has students affiliated with the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine, departments of Pediatrics and Experimental Medicine.
