Dr. Shubhayan Sanatani
CRMC Clinical Lead
Head, Division of Cardiology and Investigator, BC Children’s Hospital
As a pediatric electrophysiologist, Dr. Sanatani’s research focuses on the rhythm of the heart. Disturbances in the rhythm of the heart, or arrhythmias, can occur in otherwise healthy children or in children with heart disease. His research aims to improve the outcome of children who have arrhythmias.
Many potentially lethal conditions affecting the heart rhythm are inherited and Dr. Sanatani works on heritable conditions causing arrhythmias. This research involves collaborations with clinician and basic scientists from all over the world to improve our understanding of inherited heart rhythm disorders.

Investigator, BC Children's Hospital
Dr. Tibbits is a world expert in cardiac biology, specifically in cellular and molecular mechanisms of inherited arrhythmias and cardio-myopathies. His laboratory pioneered the use of genome-edited stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes to understand arrhythmogenic heart diseases. He brings years of leadership to the role, having served as Chair of BPK; Director, BCCHR Cardiovascular Sciences; and Chair, Scientific Review Committee, Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.
