Accommodation Assistance

The BC Family Residence Program (BCFRP) provides accommodation assistance for families while a child requires care at BC Children’s Hospital, Sunny Hill Health Centre, BC Cancer Agency (Vancouver), and babies in the neo-natal unit at BC Women’s Hospital. For more information, visit the BCFRP website or review the BCFRP Booking Guide.

Travel Assistance

The Travel Assistance Program (TAP) helps alleviate some of the transportation costs for eligible BC residents who must travel within the province for non-emergency medical specialist services not available in their own community. Please ask your primary care provider for TAP forms. For more information, visit the TAP BC website.

Social Work

If you need more support, a social worker can connect you to other travel resources that your family could be eligible. A social worker can also offer emotional support, assist with technology or language barriers, refer you to organizations and resources in your community, and more.

To speak with a Social Worker, please contact the Social Work Office at 604-875-2345 ext. 2149. Alternatively, ask your child’s clinic to connect you with a Social Worker.
