November 2025 Workshop: Omics analysis on Sockeye/HPC - November 18-20, 2025
This workshop provides a practical introduction to omics data analysis and high-performance computing (HPC) using UBC’s Sockeye cluster. Led by Dr. Tannistha Nandi from the Advanced Research Computing (ARC) team, the workshop covers overall data management and fundamental omics data analysis and processing using HPC/Sockeye:
- Key concepts in data management, HPC environments, and foundational genomics workflows
- Transfer and organize data on the Sockeye cluster
- Acquire and prepare public genomics datasets
- Work with common genomics data formats
- Build and optimize command-line workflows
- Run scalable analyses using reproducible job script

Differential state analysis of scRNA-seq data with Muscat - April 15, 2025
This workshop explored single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data analysis using the R package "muscat" (multi-sample multi-group scRNA-seq analysis tools). Learn about various methods and visualization tools for DS analysis in scRNA-seq data, including cell-level mixed models and methods, as well as a flexible simulation platform.
For the workshop, core packages below were used:
- tidyverse
- patchwork
- UpSetR
- bioconductor
- ExperimentHub
- limma
- muscData
- muscat
- scater
Intro to Biostat - Jeff Bone - January 16, 2025
This beginner-friendly workshop reviewed the basic concepts of Biostatistics.
