Faculty seminars will consist of presentations by faculty members on a variety of topics. These seminars will provide an overview of options and opportunities available in the medical research field, both during the student years and beyond.

Each week, students will receive an email bulletin about upcoming events and their available formats. Attendance will be recorded during each session.

Talk Title: My journey (through a research lens)

Presentation Description: Dr. Joseph Lam is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics and an Associate Member of the Department of Dermatology and Skin Sciences. He practices at the BC Children's Hospital and in his private clinic on East 10th Avenue.

In this presentation, he will:

  • Detail his personal/professional career path 
  • Describe lessons learned along the way 
  • Provide tips on finding a good research path

  • Provide an overview of the biopsychosocial model of pediatric pain
  • Explore considerations for inclusive research and clinical practice in chronic pain, with a focus on gender and development
  • Review (one of many possible!) career trajectories of a clinical psychologist-researcher
